Apocalypse (Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi, #9) by Troy Denning
But the greatest threat to the Jedi remains unseen, a faceless menace even more lethal and insidious than the Sith who have plagued the Jedi for millennia. No plans to ever re-read 4 Star - Good Book, Was a really good book and I would recommend. Thanks to quick thinking on Han Solo's part, he convinces Tenel Ka to have the ship captured, which forces it to elude the Hapan forces and destroy itself in a suicidal blast. The whole thing becomes quite a mess. By the time book 4 started things were in motion and the story had got going and was very gripping.

Several of these have basically become the pets of Lucasbooks and do nothing but churn out garbage with the Star Wars logo on it because it sells whether the story or the writing is any good. When the Sith gave a slight nod, the guards drew their stubby Merr-Sonn Urban blaster rifles and started toward the inspection station. Ben will discover that, as other Jedi his age are going insane all around him, he is special in some way, because he has remained untouched. With the Sith survivors knowing full well who the Jedi queen is, Allana decides that it's time to drop the charade of her moniker of Amelia and fully embrace her role as heir to the Hapan throne, letting the galaxy know who she is. Otherwise it would have been 3 stars. First of all, the ending to the previous novel seems to me at the time to have been an afterthought. This book should have been called Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: key Anticlimactic, because that about sums it up in a word.
Apocalypse (Audiobook) by Troy Denning
As Luke and Ben Skywalker pursue the formidable dark-side being Abeloth, the Lost Tribe of the Sith is about to be sundered by an even greater power - which will thrust one Dark Lord into mortal conflict with his own flesh-and-blood. And as Luke, Ben, Han, Leia, Jaina, Jag, torrent and their allies close in, the devastating truth about the dark side incarnate will be exposed—and send shock waves through the Jedi Order, the galaxy, and the Force itself. I really can only hope she stays in the light and does not follow her father's course. More blasterfire sounded from high up the pedramp, followed by the snap of breaking bones and the thud of bodies being thrown into walls. Examples include , who is killed by , and , who is killed by. Like someone started out telling a somewhat decent joke or story or whatever--and then someone else came along and ruins it. Yeah, get ready for a whole lot of disappointment.

Wonderful new character come into play here too sadly for only a brief while. Luke felt the sergeant—the impostor-sergeant—reaching for him in the Force. On Coruscant, a political vacuum has left tensions at the boiling point, with factions racing to claim control of the Galactic Alliance. Don't make up something unimportant for them to do on the side. As we drove away to the nearest Friendly's for lunch, my curiosity got the best of me. When Abeloth elects to do so, she absorbs Pagorski's being into herself.

The answer was Abeloth, an ill-defined spooky, emotionally needy tentacled beastie that is more evil and steeped in the Dark Side than thousands of Sith put together. All of the other teams had reported a flawless infiltration, and now an unlikely coincidence threatened to eliminate the advantage of surprise. The book was just right in giving out the characters' perspective in the war on Coruscant, and it was entirely in-tune with the story as it progresses. . Overall this was a pretty superb series. Although it was impossible for a being his size to cut across so many processing lines without drawing attention, Bazel attempted to do exactly that, sliding into each line from the side and shooting a menacing glower at anyone who appeared to object. On at least two occasions, Ben or Han uses the curse of calling someone a Mugwump as in Albus Dumbledore is described as 'Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards'.

The Fate of The Jedi series overall was better than its recent predecessors, but these long series are compromised by the uneven quality of multiple writers. This novel also brings the relationship between Ben and Vestara to a somewhat logical breaking point, leaving both of them to pursue future paths that will certainly intersect. They enter the planet, with the likes of and the siblings, and , getting past the security checks, which are led by undercover Sith. For Luke Skywalker, it's a call to arms to eradicate the Sith and their monstrous new master once and for all. I really enjoyed this, as it was intense and full of all my favorite characters. The Expanded Universe books have degraded to the point of the prequel movies in quality. The whole series just seemed to be spinning it's wheels for so long--so much had to happen in this novel to tie up threads that it lost a sense of urgency from the sheer amount of stuff thrown at us.
Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse
Vestara would have been a great Jedi, and I loved her connection with Ben, loved how they'd changed each other. Fortunately, new heroes have emerged to take up arms - and perhaps lay down their lives - for the cause. Early in the series it is the Jedi Madness and distrust of the Government that is the most grating and once the source of the madness is revealed that plot thread is pretty much dropped. The Jedi are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring just rule, but even they are not prepared to take on the combined threats of Sith power, a deposed dictator bent on galaxywide vengeance, and an entity of pure cunning and profound evil hungry to become a god. While this is going on, Raynar Thul is risking his sanity to get information from the Killiks about what exactly Abeloth is. Summarizing Apocalypse seems a tad pointless: I would hope no one will pick it up without having read the rest of Fate of the Jedi and anyone who is already following along with the series will certainly finish with this final volume.
Apocalypse (Audiobook) by Troy Denning
Dressed in the festive, rumpled clothes of vacationers returning home from a trip packed with more dancing and gambling than relaxation, the two Jedi Knights were almost indistinguishable from the handful of passengers between them and Luke. Luke endlessly spews vacant platitudes, whilst everyone else cracks one-liners and catch phrases that are supposed to make us see them as human, rather than cardboard cutouts. Ignoring the growing press of the crowd behind him, Bazel ex- tended his Force awareness toward the security post. The few passengers still lingering in the area seemed transfixed by her silken voice, which rolled across the platform in a steady, hypnotic patter that Luke Skywalker recognized as a Force technique designed to lull listeners into a receptive state of mind. Only when they arrive at Coruscant, as the battle between the Jedi and Sith rages, do they find out that she stowed away in order to accomplish her mission. Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse to be better than the print version? Denning also pens a cameo appearance of a member of the One Sith towards the end of the book. We're to believe that these are different from your average dark siders because they're Sith, but not one of them comes close to being as menacing as the likes of Darth Maul, let alone the great Darth Vader.

But it's a fairly minor nitpick. Book 1 2 and 3 were an up hill climb setting in place the story and all the Characters. I never thought the series would end on such a high note, and yes, it did end. When the dust settles, what began as corporate warfare becomes a battle with much higher stakes - and crack far deadlier consequences. Aboloth's origin and purpose are explained. And all the while, they have no idea that Abeloth is not only there, but leading the enemy. I Will Re-Read this one or more t 1 Star - Horrible book, It was so bad I stopped reading it.

I huffed and puffed my way to the car, refusing to even open my present. Tied to the exploration of the Force mysteries was the introduction of Abeloth. They left a lot open for future novels which to this point they have avoided doing. I really can only hope she stays in the light and does not follow her father's course. Also all the powers and new force abilities Luke added to his repertoire were not used again. I came to know my favorite characters from the movies better than I knew myself. And Ben and Vestara kill off her Korelei avatar after Ben uses the Sith's own shikkar against her, similar to what Vestara did to Ruku Myal, and then Abeloth-Korelei is finished off when she is then crushed by the fight's resultant debris.
